Prieuré Saint Jean de Bébian

Prieure Saint Jean de Bebian is a benchmark winery, located in the city of Pezenas, in the Languedoc region. It is an Estate with a long history & established reputation which raises the profile of the terroirs producing its wines and of the Languedoc region, as a whole. It traces its origins back to the 11th century, when monks started cultivating vineyards & producing wine. During the modern era Alain Roux was one of the instrumental owners who planted noble grape varieties (sourced from famous chateaux) as well as grape varieties from the Chateauneuf-du-Pape region.   Subsequently, the former editors of Revue Vin de France bought the property and enhanced the quality of vilification by recruiting acclaimed Australian winemaker Karen Turner. The current owner, Alexander Pumpyanskiy, purchased Bebian in 2008 & invested considerably in upgrading it with the construction of modern production facilities & a new very sophisticated cellar. Bebian today, totals some 32 hectares of grapevines including some very old one’s  producing unique blends unrivaled not only to the Languedoc-Roussillon region but to the whole country. The moto is low yields & ripped grapes coupled with sophisticated technology and bio-cultivation produce exceptional wines.
