Based on Rioja’s long tradition of combining grapes from different terroirs to create a style of wine, Cerro Añón is our top range of wines. The perfect assemblage.
Cerro Añón Reserva 2014
Officially classified as Excellent by the Rioja Board, vintage 2015 was a year when the weather was ‘textbook’, although warmer and drier than average. Small berries and richness in terms of tannins and concentration are a common feature of wines from this vintage.
The fruit for Cerro Añon Reserva comes from our vineyards in both Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. Average age for vines is around 25 years and the soil patterns in our vineyards are a combination of the well-known limestone/clay/alluvial mix to be found in most of Central Rioja. Approximately, the mix of grapes for Cerro Añón Reserva is 90% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano. Harvests took place in the end of September, with a good ripeness level (phenolic and alcoholic), and we managed to harvest most of the grapes we intended to use for this wine before weather went worse.
